IM
Talk
By International Master Jimmy Liew
IM Jimmy Liew is
one of the few Malaysian players who works very
hard at opening theory. He's always experimenting with
'new' lines in the hope of increasing his own
arsenal of 'secret weapons'. One such line which
Jimmy has used with great success is the Veresov
Opening. Before Jimmy began playing the line, some
of the local players used to term it 'The Very Soft
Opening'. All
that changed after Jimmy's famous victory
over Asia's first Grandmaster Eugenio Torre in 1986.
